Dorset Police received a report at 1.47am on Saturday 26 September 2026 of a single vehicle collision involving a white Vauxhall Vivaro van, which had collided with a building in High East Street, causing a support pillar to collapse.
The van is reported to have stopped a short distance from the incident, with two male occupants leaving the scene on foot.
A man aged in his 20s has subsequently made contact with police and is assisting with the investigation. No arrests have been made at this time.
Police Constable Jake Ward, of Dorset Police, said: “We are carrying out enquiries into this incident and I am keen to speak with any witnesses who have not already spoken to police.
“I would also like to speak to any motorists who may have capture relevant dashcam footage, as well as residents or business with any home CCTV or doorbell camera footage that might assist our investigation.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police online or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55260150758. Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online using its website or by calling Freephone 0800 555 111. | ||
